from the trees to the sky

An Excerpt From My Novel

Have you ever been at that point in your life where you look back and think about how you got there? How would your life have been if you had made different decisions? Would you be sad or happy? Would you be with the love of your life or would you be alone? Would you still even be walking on this planet or would you be six feet under the dirt?

Well, that was where my mind was at not too long ago, while I sat in a dark room, ties around my wrists and an itchy cloth wrapped around my head to keep me from seeing my surroundings. You would assume that I had obviously made a few mistakes in my life which lead me down that specific path, but you would be wrong. If I were given the opportunity, I would never want to change what I had done, and that is because, along the way, I made amazing friends and even fell in love. Yes, I was in a horrible situation, but the fact of the matter is that it was the safest for my loved ones.

I am sure you think that my life cannot possibly get any worse, right? Well, you are wrong again; as I am currently on my way to war so that I can help save an extraordinary woman in my life. I am willing to put my life on the line and do whatever must be done to protect that woman and my friends. I will never regret a single action which led me to this very moment.

You are probably asking yourself, “How can this girl be in these situations and not want to change things?” or you are even thinking “Wow, this girl sure is dumb.”

Am I right? Well, let me take you back to the beginning and show you why this is all worth it.
